Kelly Wins Second Straight Track Athlete of the Week Honor, George Tabbed Pitcher of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Madigan Kelly was voted the Rize Laboratory Cascade Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the second straight week and Drake George was tabbed the CCC Baseball Pitcher of the Week. The pair helped the Warriors to successful weekends on the track and on the baseball field.
SHANE SPENCER – BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
George had the strongest start by a Warrior this season with seven shutout innings against the No. 2 team in the NAIA. The right-hander did not walk a batter or allow a run against LSU Shreveport before the rain suspended the game after seven innings. George struck out eight to earn his fifth win of the season.
This is the second weekly honor for George this season and of his career.
LC State travels to Vancouver, B.C., this weekend to take on UBC in a four-game Cascade Conference series.
MADIGAN KELLY – WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kelly had a busy weekend with national standards in all three events she competed in. The Lewiston native shattered her school record once again in the 100m hurdles (13.87) for a win and an A standard that ranks fifth in the NAIA this season. She led off the 4x100m relay that set an LC record with a time of 47.31, 11th-best in the NAIA this season and an A mark. She also ran the first leg of the 4x400m relay that earned a B standard and won the race with a time of 3:56.44. The times ranks 12th in the NAIA.
This is the third honor of the season for Kelly and eighth of her career.
