August 26, 20274

(Kootenai County, ID) : On August 25, 2024, at approximately 5:00 PM, deputies from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a report of a male allegedly photographing children at the North Idaho State Fair.

Deputies identified the male as Fnu Rahul and learned he was from New Dehli, India. The suspect was unable to provide valid U.S. identification, nor paperwork indicating he was in the U.S. legally. Deputies conducted an investigation, but were unable to find probable cause to arrest Rahul.

Deputies notified Border Patrol, who responded to the location and arrested Rahul. KCSO was notified that Rahul came into the United States on a cruise line in Florida, and has absconded for the past two years. Rahul is currently being held at the Kootenai County Public Safety Building under the policy of Sheriff Robert “Bob” Norris. It is our policy to contact Border Patrol when a deputy has reason to believe an immigrant is in the country illegally.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety and upholding effective partnerships with federal agencies to address and resolve matters of illegal immigrants in the country.
