Kootenai County, Idaho— On April 26, 2024, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Coeur d’Alene Police Department were notified by law enforcement from Las Vegas that a homicide suspect they had been tracking may be in Kootenai County. According to information from the investigation, three suspects had been identified in the shooting death of a 16-year-old male in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this month. Two suspects were in custody, but the third, 18-year-old Lennix M. Dockery, fled the area after the shooting.
Working off information from Las Vegas Metro Police (LVMPD), the Coeur d’Alene Police Department Community Action Team (CAT) was able to confirm a location in Rathdrum where Dockery was most likely staying. Kootenai County Detectives gained a search warrant for the residence, and in the early morning hours of April 27, 2024, the Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT Team responded to the scene. Shortly after the SWAT Team surrounded the house and began making announcements, Dockery exited the residence and was arrested without incident on the Homicide Warrant from Las Vegas. At the request of LVMPD, Kootenai County Detectives completed a search of the residence looking for other evidence of the crime.
The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the Coeur d’Alene Police Department for their involvement in this investigation, which was integral in the apprehension of Dockery. The relationship between the Sheriff’s Office and our law enforcement partners in the region is critical to the success of criminal investigations and the apprehension of serious criminal suspects in Kootenai County.
