CORVALLIS, Ore. – Lewis-Clark State garnered four Cascade Conference Rize Laboratory Athlete of the Week honors for performances over the weekend. Drake George and Brandon Cabrera swept baseball honors, Carter Gordon ran his way to track accolades and Bryden Brown earned his fourth golf honor.
BRANDON CABRERA – BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cabrera had a productive weekend with at least one hit in each game, including a pair of three-hit contests, to help No. 9 LC State sweep UBC. The junior hit .500 (9-for-18) and slugged .889 with a double and two home runs. Cabrera drove in six runs and scored four to go with five stolen bases on the weekend. He stole two bags in each of the first two games. His two home runs came in the first game along with four RBI. He did not commit and error in the field in eight total chances.
This is the first weekly honor for Cabrera at LC State.
DRAKE GEORGE – BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
George tossed the first complete game by a Warrior since 2022 and first against UBC on the road since 2003 to earn his sixth win of the season. The junior struck out nine batters in nine innings with just one walk and allowed two earned runs against a potent UBC offense.
This is the second week in a row George has won the award and third time this season.
Warrior Baseball hosts Bushnell this weekend in the final series of the regular season.
CARTER GORDON – MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Gordan ran the No. 2 800m time in the NAIA this season, and second-fastest ever by a Warrior, at the Cougar Classic on Saturday. The time of 1:50.62 leads the CCC by more than one second.
This is Gordon’s second weekly award this season and third in his career.
Warrior Track and Field is back in action on May 3 at the UO Twilight.
BRYDEN BROWN – MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Brown won his third straight tournament via a playoff, this time doing so at home. The sophomore shot rounds of 69, 68, 72 for a 7-under total of 209. He recorded four birdies in each of the three rounds to best the 61-person field in the final Cascade Conference tournament of the regular season. A birdie on the first playoff hole secured his third victory of the season.
This is Brown’s fourth weekly honor of the season.
The Warriors compete at the CCC Championships next week.
