LC State Honors 13 Employees at Annual Ceremony

LEWISTON – Lewis-Clark State College honored 13 faculty and staff members with awards at the Employee Recognition Ceremony on Friday afternoon at the college’s Williams Conference Center.

The event honored faculty and staff members for their service during the 2023-24 academic year and awards were announced by LC State administrators. The Office of the Provost organizes the event with sponsorship from the LC State Foundation.

Retirees (listed below) were also recognized along with those earning emeritus status. Faculty emeriti include Debora Lemon, Nursing & Health Sciences Division; Jenni Light, Technical & Industrial Division; and Clay Robinson and Lee Ann Wiggin of the Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences Division. Shannon Casteel, who retired in December, received staff emeritus honors.

The 2023-24 list of award winners is as follows:

  • President’s Award for Outstanding Teaching – Natalie Holman, Social Sciences; Jessica Savage, Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences; Jenny Scott, Business & Computer Science.
  • H.L. Talkington Achievement Award – Wendy Shuttleworth, Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences.
  • LC State Foundation Award – Leigh Latta, Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences.
  • Annice Edmundson Faculty Excellence Award – Nancy Johnston, Physical, Life, Movement & Sport Sciences.
  • Fernandez Faculty Excellence Award – Sarah Graham, Humanities.
  • Adjunct Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence – Joan Agee, Nursing & Health Sciences.
  • Dr. Cameron D. & Marilyn K. Hinman Employee Excellence Award – Gordon Cox, Information Technology; Julie Bezzerides, Humanities.
  • President’s Award for Excellence in Diversity & Cross-Cultural Understanding – Rosita Nabarrete, Admissions.
  • Classified Staff Award – Angie McClain, Physical Plant.
  • Professional Staff Award – Debra Lybyer, Advising Center.

Retiring this year (fulltime years at LC State) – Clay Robinson (29), Shannon Casteel (26), Barbara Syska (23), Debora Lemon (20), Jenni Light (17), Lee Ann Wiggin (11).
