Alisha Alexander | LC State Assistant AD-Sports Information Director

LEWISTON – The Lewis-Clark State Men’s Basketball team controlled the contest from start to finish on Friday for a 92-66 victory over Multnomah. The Warriors had six players score in double-figures in a balanced offensive attack.

Jaedon Bradley and Alton Hamilton led the Warriors with 14 points each, with Hamilton doing so on a 7-for-8 night from the field. Sam Stockton had another stellar night on the boards with eight rebounds.

“Great win in front of another good crowd,” Head Coach Austin Johnson said. “We’re appreciative of the support these guys are getting and they put on another good showing. We had a super balanced scoring effort which is indicative of us being at our best. Multnomah cut it to 10 late but our guys really responded. We’ll need to be even better tomorrow against a great shooting Warner Pac team on senior night.”

The win improved LC State’s record to 18-7 overall and 16-3 in Cascade Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

A 3-pointer by Bradley put the Warriors in front at 18:58 and LC State never looked back. The basket sparked a run of nine points with contributions from John Lustig and Hamilton to give the Warriors an 11-2 lead by 15:51. A back-and-forth ensued with the teams trading baskets until back-to-back baskets by Hamilton and free throws by Stockton had the lead at 31-16 10 minutes later.

Stockton scored on two straight possessions, and Anthony Peoples Jr. did the same before Gorden Boykins sent LC to the locker room with a 41-27 advantage.

Layups by Lustig and Hamilton pushed the lead to 47-29 a minute into the second half. Tallies from Hamilton, Stockton and Quentin Raynor gave the Warriors a 20-point cushion by 14:35, and back-to-back triples by Davian Brown and Bradley kept the margin there two minutes later.

Multnomah went on a run to cut the difference to nine, 67-58, midway through the half, but a triple by Brown sent the Warriors on another scoring run. Hamilton and Peoples Jr. added to the 12-point stretch, and another run with contributions from Stockton, Raynor and Josh Salguero had LC up by 28, 90-62, in the final two minutes to put the game away.

Bradley and Hamilton led LC State with 14 points each, Brown added 13, Peoples Jr. scored 11 and Lustig and Stockton each had 10. Stockton led the Warriors with eight boards and four assists while Lustig had two steals.

LC State shot 52.7% from the field (39-for-74) and 43.5% from 3-point range (10-for-23). The Warriors won the rebound battle 45-33.

Multnomah’s Tyrese Taylor led the contest with 20 points and Neyland Block had seven rebounds.
