The Warrior Entertainment Board, a student board that plans entertainment and events on campus, won the logo design category, while the Associated Students of Lewis-Clark State College (ASLCSC), the student body government at the college, won the social media campaign competition.
Representatives from 47 higher education institutions throughout the United States participated in the NACA Riverside Conference, which provided a professional development opportunity for student leaders and to create a campus programming schedule at LC State for next year. The conference has entertainers showcasing their talents (music, magician, mentalist, etc.) to student leaders in hopes of bringing those acts to campus.
NACA is a non-profit organization that helps members with their campus experience through inclusive learning, meaningful connections, and engaging entertainment by connecting student leaders with entertainers, agents, vendors and other entities involved with campus events and activities. As well as making connections, the conference provided an opportunity for students to showcase their marketing expertise.
Six marketing competitions were held at the conference and LC State took top honors in two. Other competitions included promotional items, apparel, video/animation, and poster/flyer. The judging criteria included quality, visual appeal, creativity, and impact. Schools were allowed only one entry per category.
In the logo design category that showcased artistic flair, LC State junior Madison Shriver of Clarkston created the winning Plant-A-Buddy logo as a member of the WEB team. As part of Warrior Welcome Week in August that welcomed students back to campus for the fall semester, WEB sponsored Plant-A-Buddy. The event allowed students to pick a succulent plant to take home. Shriver’s design was required to include WEB’s name, and she was honored for not only encapsulating the essence of the event but also demonstrating an understanding of contemporary design trends.
Kae’la Brown, a senior from Caldwell, developed and designed ASLCSC’s social media campaign for Homecoming Week, which took place in October. Brown’s campaign was honored for demonstrating a mastery of digital engagement by leveraging the power of social media platforms to leave a lasting impact.
Both LC State teams were recognized for their achievements during the closing dinner and awards ceremony during the final evening of the conference.
