LC State Volleyball Opens Trip Against Fifth-Ranked Southern Oregon

(Lewiston, ID) Lewis-Clark State Volleyball faced off with the No. 5 team in the NAIA on Friday in a tilt against the Southern Oregon Raiders. SOU earned its 19th win a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-18, 25-15) of LC State.

The Warriors fall to 11-9 on the season and 8-7 in Cascade Conference play while SOU improves to 19-2 on the year and 13-2 in conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kills by Hallie Seaman and Juliauna Forgach Aguilar paired with a block by Karissa Lindner and Forgach Aguilar to keep the set tied 4-4 early in the opening frame. After SOU pulled ahead 9-6, Taylor Boyce tallied four kills and Gianna Anderson added one to amount to a 6-0 run to put the Warriors in front 12-9. The Raiders answered to retie the set 13-13 and kills by Forgach Aguilar made it 17-17. Southern Oregon gained momentum to take the frame 25-20.

Boyce put the Warriors on the board and four kills by Forgach Aguilar cut the deficit to one at 6-5 in the second. Boyce and Lindner went back-to-back to keep the margin small at 8-7, but a run by SOU put the Raiders up 19-11. Southern Oregon took a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-18 win in the set.

Missy Mortensen put up a solo block to start the third set and a kill by Teagan Scott made it 2-1 in favor of LC State. Swings by Forgach Aguilar and Boyce kept the Warriors in the match, but SOU continued to pull ahead with a 14-8 advantage. The margin grew to 21-12 before the Raiders took the set 25-15.

STAT RECAP

Forgach Aguilar led the match with 12 kills and Boyce added 10. Forgach Aguilar and Mortensen each put up three block assists. Abbey Neff and Esther Kailiponi each dealt 10 assists and Natany Felix Guimaraes collected 11 digs.
