LC State Women’s Basketball Ranked in 19th Straight Poll, Starts Season at No. 24

(Lewiston, ID) Lewis-Clark State Women’s Basketball is ranked in the NAIA Top 25 for the 19th straight poll, the sixth-longest active streak in NAIA women’s basketball, and will start the season at No. 24.

The Warrior women opened their preseason action in Pullman with an exhibition at NCAA Division I Washington State. Despite graduating two of the best players in program history, LC State did not miss a beat. The Warriors played well led by 15 points from junior guard Payton Hymas. Despite battling a 6-6 center under the net, sophomore forward Darian Herring posted 12 points. Senior Ellie Sander filled up the box score with six rebounds, six points and three assists and LC State bested WSU in offensive boards 14-8.

The Warriors face another tough challenge on Friday in their final exhibition contest, this time in Moscow. LC State will take on the Idaho Vandals in the ICCU Arena at 6 p.m. before the official season opener on Nov. 2 against Haskell Indian Nations University.

Southern Oregon, picked to win the Cascade Conference this season, enters the season at No. 10 in the NAIA and Oregon Tech checked in at No. 20.
