Lewis Clark Animal Shelter Seeking Forever Home for Kaya

Release from Lewis Clark Animal Shelter
May 27, 2024

LEWISTON – Lewis Clark Animal Shelter is asking for the public’s help with its mission to find a forever home for its shelter queen, Kaya.

LCAS staff characterize Kaya as a delightful girl who began her journey in the Seattle area. Sadly, her original family had to part ways due to relocation and Kaya found herself in need of a new home. She arrived at the shelter after her subsequent owners realized they couldn’t provide the care she deserved.

At 8 years young, Kaya is a fluffy bundle of joy who thrives in the company of her humans. She’s won hearts around the shelter with her disposition and zest for life. Kaya delights in leisurely walks and playful sessions of tennis ball chasing. She is trained in basic commands like sit, shake, and down, she’s also fully housebroken. Kaya is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. As a cherished member of the shelter’s diamond dog program, she craves the companionship of fellow humans.

Arriving at Lewis Clark Animal Shelter on May 24, 2023, Kaya holds the title of our longest-serving resident. Now, she eagerly awaits the chance to showcase her charm and grace with her signature tippy-toe dance.

If anyone is interested in meeting Kaya they are asked to contact or visit the shelter: (208) 746-1623 or info@lcshelter.org. The Lewis Clark Animal Shelter is located at 6 Shelter Road, Lewiston, Idaho.

About Lewis Clark Animal Shelter

The Lewis Clark Animal Shelter’s mission is to promote the humane treatment of animals, prevent cruelty to animals, and provide education to enhance the human-animal bond and to end pet overpopulation through an aggressive spay/neuter campaign.

A private nonprofit organization that relies on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, fees for service. The shelter operates with a very modest core management staff and kennel assistants. The community member Board of Directors actively volunteers and supports the shelter operations. We are not a government facility. Currently, we provide sheltering services to the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Department and The Lewiston City Police Department, Nez Perce Tribe Police Department, Asotin County Sheriff’s Department, Clarkston Washington Police Department, City of Asotin Police Department, and Idaho State Police. These police departments bring impounded animals to our shelter for care, sheltering, and reclaiming by their owners. On their behalf, we hold, care for, license and release animals that are brought to the shelter by Animal Control Officers.
