Lewiston Civic Theatre presents I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, January 18 – 28, 2024

The Lewiston Civic Theatre is pleased to bring the witty, musical revue I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change to the LC Valley. The show is presented in a series of vignettes that explore modern love in all its forms, from first dates to marriage, children, and the twilight years of life. This insightful and hilarious musical’s tagline is “Everything you have ever secretly thought about dating, romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives and in-laws, but were afraid to admit.”

Our wonderful company of actors play many parts in this production which is directed by Terry Lewis. It is a musical comedy with books and lyrics by Joe DePietro and music by Jimmy Roberts. The show premiered in 1995 and in August 1996 the show opened Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre where it ran for 5,003 performances. When it closed in 2008, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change had become the second longest-running revue in Off-Broadway history.

Our cast is composed of actors that Lewiston Civic Theatre audiences have seen and loved along with  some new faces too. Sam Weeks accompanies the cast on the piano. All programming at Lewiston Civic Theatre is made possible through the support of the City of Lewiston.

Founded in 1964, the Lewiston Civic Theatre shows played in the Porthouse in downtown Lewiston. The Porthouse no longer stands, due to constant water damage from the tides of the Snake River, which were known to flood – but not cancel a show. As LCT survived those tides, so has it survived the search for a new home. While the performance spaces moved from time to time throughout the years, time and time again, always resilient, the Lewiston Civic Theatre has proven that theater is the people that create it, not  the building that houses it.  Currently, season productions are performed at the former Lewiston High School Auditorium (1114 9th Ave, Lewiston, ID 83501), also known as the Normal Hill Campus in special arrangement with the Lewiston Independent School District. The Lewiston Civic Theatre is committed to be a creative home for actors, directors, and designers to collaborate and enrich the cultural life of the LC Valley and surrounding areas. We are an inclusive organization that welcomes and encourages participation and volunteers from all of our community at large. Lewiston Civic Theatre is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization that offers theatrical productions and theater education opportunities year round.
