Lewiston Downtown Water Main Construction

Lewiston, ID- Released From the City of Lewiston

Starting Monday, April 3, 2023, the replacement of a water main in Downtown Lewiston will begin.

Work will start at 9th Street and continue east to Jefferson Street. After completion of the 9th Street to Jefferson Street section, the project will move to 18th Street and continue east to the Locomotive Park culdesac. Work is planned for completion within three months.

This project consists of transmission main replacement to the referenced blocks of Main Street. This replacement project will increase the hydraulic capacity of the system and maintain a pipe network that is capable of continually delivering safe drinking water to the public. The work involves construction of 6”, 8”, and 16” ductile iron water piping, valves, services, hydrants, customer service connections, connections to the existing water system, and asphalt surface, sidewalk, and curb/gutter repair within the Main Street transportation corridor.

Exploratory excavation occurred on Thursday March 23rd. The Contractor notified adjacent property owners and occupants in advance of construction.

This project is being funded using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).

The City has contracted with LaRiviera, Inc. to perform the work.
