Lewiston Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire on 13th Ave

(Lewiston, ID) At 2:30 pm today the department was dispatched to a reported structure fire near 14th Ave. and 20th Street. First arriving units confirmed the address to be 1918 13th Ave. Units arrived to find heavy smoke and fire showing from the main floor of the residence.

Crews attacked the fire and were able to knock the fire down and confirm that no one was in the residence. There were animals in the residence and all but one were able to get out. Crews remained on the scene to check for hot spots and overhaul the fire for an additional 90 minutes.

The department responded with 3 structural engines, 3 ambulances, 3 chief officers and 2 fire investigators. An additional engine from Clarkston Fire Department responded per our automatic mutual aid policy.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and there was significant damage to the residence. Estimated damage to the structure and contents is $150,000.

There were no human injuries to report but unfortunately one of the occupants pet’s was not able to make it out of the residence.
