Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 Partners with Lewiston’s Grocery Outlet Delivering a Fire Truck Full of Food Donations to Lewiston Students

Lewiston, December 13, 2023 – In an exceptional display of community spirit, Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 partnered with Lewiston’s Grocery Outlet to donate a fire truck full of food to the Lewiston School District HUB. This dedicated food and clothing pantry, serving the needs of area children, will receive this substantial contribution to further support local families in need.

The collaborative effort began when Whitman Elementary 5th-grade teacher, Mrs. Bowen, and her Student Leadership Group sought the Firefighter’s assistance to help collect 450 pieces of food for area food banks. The student group was running the school’s food drive. Responding with unwavering commitment, the firefighters surpassed the student’s initial goal and directed their significant contributions to the Lewiston School District HUB, recognized as a vital resource for the community.

Jennifer Wallace, Community Social Worker and Families in Transition Coordinator highlighted the critical role of the HUB, stating, “The Lewiston School District HUB is more than a pantry; it’s a lifeline for many families. This generous donation from the Lewiston Firefighters Local 1773 will have a profound impact, ensuring that children and their families have access to essential resources, including nutritious food and clothing. Carlo Montebon, owner of Lewiston Grocery Outlet, expressed his support for the initiative, saying, “When the firefighters approached us with this remarkable undertaking, we knew we had to be a part of it.
