Lewiston Man Arrested After Fleeing Traffic Stop and Crashing Into a Parked Car on 14th Ave

February 6, 2025

(Lewiston, ID) Jesse Harrell, 30, was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop on 17th Street in Lewiston and subsequently crashing into a parked vehicle on 14th Avenue.

According to a Lewiston Police officer, Harrell was stopped after the officer reportedly observed him driving with no break lights.  As the officer exited his patrol car, Harrell reportedly rapidly accelerated westbound on 14th Ave through the intersection of 14th Ave. and 16th Street.

Harrell was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed in a 24 mph zone and failed to slow down for a stop sign, ultimately blowing through the intersection of 14th Ave and 15th Street. Harrell then failed to make a right turn and slid into a parked car on the side of the road. Harrel reportedly exited the vehicle to flee the scene of the crash. An officer observed Harrell running down an alleyway between 14th Ave and 13th Ave. The officer was able to follow and detain Harrell in the alleyway. While conducting his body search, the officer reportedly found a silver and black pipe, as well as an open bottle of R&R whiskey on the passenger floorboard of the vehicle.

It was then discovered that Harrell had an outstanding warrant out of Washington and that his driving privileges were currently revoked.

Harrell was subsequently booked into the Nez Perce County Adult Detention Center on Felony Eluding, Failure to Notify Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle, Resisting or Obstructing Arrest, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of an open container.
