Lewiston Man Arrested Following a Domestic Dispute Involving a Firearm

LEWISTON – On December 3rd, 2022, at approximately 6:04pm, Lewiston Police responded to a report of a domestic in the 3300 block of 8th Street F. Information given was that a firearm was involved. Upon arrival, officers made contact with several occupants of the house, including children. Officers were informed that a male inside the house had been involved in a domestic with his spouse and a firearm had been discharged during the dispute but no one had been hit with the round that was fired. The female half of the domestic and the children were able to exit the house safely and then called police.

Officers attempted to contact the male half involved in the incident who remained inside the house. Officers were unsuccessful in their attempts to speak to the male half. Due to the nature of the incident, the Lewiston Police Department’s Regional SWAT team was called to assist with the situation. Neighbors in the area were advised to shelter in their homes until the situation was resolved. Multiple streets in the area were also closed for several hours during the incident.

The SWAT team responded to the location and were able to convince the male subject, identified as 29 year old, Lewiston resident Dillon Watson to come out of the house and he was taken into custody without further incident. Mr. Watson was transported to the Nez Perce County Jail where he was charged with one count of felony domestic battery and one count of felony aggravated assault.

The Lewiston Police Department wants to thank the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office and the Idaho State Police who assisted with the call while waiting for the SWAT team to arrive.
