Lewiston Police Department Investigating Saturday Afternoon Dog Attack

LEWISTON – On Saturday, March 2, just before 5:00 p.m., Lewiston Police Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of Park Street for a domestic situation. Arriving officers were flagged down by a juvenile male who was reporting a vicious dog that was foaming at the mouth and barking at the juvenile.

While officers were attempting to aid the juvenile, the dog in question, then charged the boy. Acting quickly, an officer pulled his weapon and shot the dog as it ran past him to get to the juvenile. The officer fired one round, striking the dog, The Lewiston Police Department assisted the owners in locating a veterinarian for treatment.

The Lewiston Police Department wants to remind pet owners to make sure their pets are on a leash when not in a contained area.

The incident is still under investigation.
