Lysander Piano Trio to Close Out 2023-24 Auditorium Chamber Music Series April 9

MOSCOW, Idaho — April 2, 2024 — The Auditorium Chamber Music Series will wrap up its 37th season with the Lysander Piano Trio performing in concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at University of Idaho’s Administration Auditorium on campus in Moscow.

The Lysander Piano Trio, whose name is inspired by the character in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” is composed of pianist Liza Stepanova, violinist Itamar Zorman and cellist Michael Katz.

Praised by The Strad for its “incredible ensemble, passionate playing, articulate and imaginative ideas and wide palette of colors” and by The Washington Post for “an uncommon degree of heart-on-the-sleeve emotional frankness,” the trio has been performing together for more than a decade.

The ensemble will perform an assortment of selections from the early 19th century through to the present day: Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Trio élégiaque No. 1 in G Minor (1892), Bongani Ndodana-Breen’s “Two Nguni Dances” (2009), Udi Perlman’s “Nostos” (2022) and Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Trio Op. 97, “Archduke” (1811).

Tickets, which are $25 for the general public, $20 for seniors, $10 for U of I students and free for children 12 and under, can be purchased at uitickets.com, as well as at the Bruce M. Pitman Center box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and at the door an hour before the concert begins (card only, no cash).

Since 1986, the Auditorium Chamber Music Series has presented some of the world’s finest small ensembles in the beautiful neo-gothic auditorium in the heart of U of I’s campus.
