Men’s Tennis Wraps Up Regular Season at Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Lewis-Clark State Men’s Tennis team dropped two matches against NCAA Division III opponent Whitman to conclude the regular season.
The Warriors finished the regular season 12-13 with the two losses.
MATCH ONE: Whitman def. LC State 6-3
Itaru Kikuchi picked up two victories on the day. First with teammate Matus Rusnak in No. 1 doubles against Charles Rush and Artem Manov 8-5. Then, Kikuchi battled in a three-set match in No. 2 singles against Lucas Huang in a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 victory.
Pavle Markus was a winner in No. 5 singles in a three-set match against William Lanstra 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Austin Swing bounced back after getting shutout in the first set to win the second set, but ultimately lost to Manov in No. 3 singles 6-0, 4-6, 6-2.
Rusnak had to withdraw from his No. 1 singles contest with Cameron Yang in the second set due to an injury.

MATCH TWO: Whitman def. LC State 5-4
Alvaro Camino and Juan Pablo Naranjo teamed up for a No. 1 doubles win against Alejandro Raffo and Lanstra 8-4. Malte Sommer and Emmett Heiss pushed their No. 3 doubles contest to a tiebreaker, but fell 8-7 (3).
The Warriors split the six singles contests. Camino rolled to a No. 1 singles victory against Hanri Luo 6-0, 6-1. Sommer squeezed out a win in No. 2 singles in a third-set modified-tiebreaker over Rush 4-6, 6-2, 10-5. Cornelius Sia got the win in No. 4 singles 6-4, 6-4.
Naranjo won the first set in No. 3 singles against Gunnar Woller and pushed the second set into a tiebreaker, but took the loss 3-6, 7-6 (4), 6-4.
