More than 2400 Clearwater Power Members Experiencing an Extended Outage

September 12, 2024

(LEWISTON, ID) – More than 2,400 Clearwater Power members are experiencing an extended power outageThe estimated time of power restoration, which was originally estimated for 4:30 p.m. yesterday, has been delayed. The outage impacts cooperative members in Tensed, Desmet, Emida, Santa, Sanders, St. Maries, Fernwood, Clarkia, and surrounding areas.

Early yesterday morning, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA), which supplies power to Clearwater Power substations in the area, experienced an insulator failure in a substation north of Potlatch and needed to take an emergency outage to replace this equipment safely. While making initial replacements, additional replacements and repairs needed to be made, taking longer than originally expected.  This outage impacts five of Clearwater Powers’ most northern substations.

Updates will be shared on the cooperative’s website at clearwaterpower.com and Facebook page at facebook.com/clearwaterpower. Outage information can be viewed online at clearwaterpower.com/outage-center.
