Moscow Police Department receives report of shots fired in the area of the 100 block of S. Almon St.

UPDATE:

At approximately 08:05AM, a 54-year-old male was taken into custody on charges of the unlawful discharge of weapons, disturbing the peace and resisting / obstructing officers. The suspect was transported to the Latah County Jail. The 100 block of S. Almon Street is now safe and there is no further threat to the community. Detectives have taken over the scene as the investigation is ongoing. There have been no injuries reported to this point.

There will be a short media briefing in front of the Moscow Police Department at 10:00AM to provide as much information about this incident as possible and to answer questions. 

 

On Tuesday September 5, 2023 at approximately 02:05AM the Moscow Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of the 100 block of S. Almon St. It is confirmed multiple gunshots have been fired and officers are in the area attempting to take the suspect into custody. Information gathered at this time is there is a lone shooter and he is barricaded inside his residence.  The public is advised to avoid the area and anyone residing near the scene is advised to shelter in place.

Current road closures:

  • A Street and Pullman Road at Line Street
  • A Street at C Street
  • N. Main Street at D Street
  • Asbury and Almon at Sixth Street
  • Third Street west of Main Street
