New exhibition opens at Genesee’s Little Pink House Gallery

OCTOBER 3, 2023 (GENESEE, Idaho) — The twelve artists that Ellen Vieth represents at Little Pink House Gallery share their observations and intuition in a collaborative new show titled IMAGINATION, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, October 21 and 22. Little Pink House Gallery is located at 157 North Elm Street in Genesee. Look for pink house signs on the routes into town. Exhibition hours are 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on both days, with private appointments available the week following the exhibit.

IMAGINATION is the second and final show for the ninth season at the pop-up gallery. Vieth came to the Palouse region in 1978 after studying at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Kansas City Art Institute. Her new paintings include a series on Mann Lake Reservoir, inspired when Vieth returned to the fields and hedgerows of the Clearwater Valley landscape that served as the foundation for discovery and healing for her twenty years ago. She reflected on her MFA thesis at the University of Idaho during her many walks there.

Through her paintings, Vieth invites us all to find a place that we can become so familiar with, a place that we can revisit and grow old with.

“Familiarity and imagination work well together,” says Vieth. “Someone recently told me, ‘I know those places and I see them not exactly the same as you, but they are like friends- I can put myself there.’”

Vieth is very much at home with that sentiment.

Joining Vieth for this month’s IMAGINATION exhibition are multi-media artists Ray Esparsen, Blake Lillian Hellman, David Herbold, John Larkin, Lauren McCleary, and Ludmilla Saskova; painters Jean Arnold and Jeanne Fulfs; woodworker Noah Schuerman; and ceramicists, Jill Birshbach, Casey Doyle, and Ann Christensen.
