(Lewiston, ID) Nez Perce County has contracted two separate Tammany Area road safety improvement projects, which begin this February. Both projects are funded in large part by site-specific project grants, which have been awarded to the county.
- Webb Road – A narrow winding section of Webb Road will be reconstructed to add roadway width and straighten tight curves, beginning on February 18, 2025. This project requires the complete closure of Webb Road between Mileposts 2.5 and 3.5. Completion of this project will require an extended closure, travelers need to plan on using alternative routes for up to four months after the project begins.
- Waha Road – The 90-degree corner on Waha Road near the intersection with Tammany Creek Road will be re-built to improve safety by increasing curve elevation and installing larger recoverable roadway shoulders. This project will begin on February 24, 2025, during this project traffic will be restricted to one lane of travel, controlled by flagging and automated traffic signal operations. This safety project will also include installation of permanent instant feedback signage on portions of Waha and Lapwai Roads. The project is anticipated to last 90 working days from starting of roadwork.
During these projects, drivers are advised to be alert for workers in the roadway and to allow for additional travel time. These two projects are part of Nez Perce County’s overall infrastructure strategy to improve safety on county roads for all road users. Your patience and understanding during construction activities are appreciated.
Updates on the progress of these two projects will be sent to press outlets, as they become available.
