Nez Perce Tribe PD Visits Lapwai Elementary School to Bring Awareness to Living a Drug-Free Life and a Safe Halloween

LAPWAI – Nez Perce Tribal Police stopped by Lapwai Elementary School’s 3rd-grade class yesterday, to talk to the kids about Red Ribbon Week and staying safe this Halloween.

Sgt. John Svancara, Detective Wynter Erickson, and Detective Jeff Kaltenbaugh of the Nez Perce Tribal Police stressed the importance of staying drug-free and making healthy choices.

Sgt. Svancara, Detective Wynter, and Detective Kaltenbaugh spoke to the students about being safe during Halloween by not touching what appears to be candy off of the ground, not talking to people they don’t know, and never taking pills that they might find in their home or elsewhere unless prescribed by a doctor.

The officers handed out stickers and answered questions from the curious kids. The students shared what they wanted to be when they grew up; some answered, a police officer and a surgeon.
