LEWISTON – At 10:32 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 2130 Ripon Ave.
The first arriving crews found smoke and flames coming from the back of the residence at 2136 Ripon Ave. The single occupant of the residence was able to get out of the house prior to the fire department’s arrival. Crews attacked the fire with a pre-connected hose line and the fire was knocked down in 10 minutes. (Crews remained on the scene for an additional 90 minutes to check for extension and overhaul the fire.
Fire investigators on the scene are working to determine the cause of the fire. The department responded with 3 structure engines, 2 ambulances, 1 chief officer, and 2 fire inspectors. They also received automatic aid from Clearwater Paper Fire Department and Wheatland Volunteer Fire Department.
The estimated damage to the residence and contents was $45,000. There were no citizen or firefighter injuries.
