Oregon Tech Sweeps CCC Doubleheader with LC State

LEWISTON – The Warriors slumped at the plate in a pair of Cascade Conference games on Saturday against Oregon Tech. LC State pitching was solid, allowing three runs in each game, but the Warriors managed just two runs on the day.

Warrior pitching struck out 26 batters throughout the 18 innings.

LC State is now 19-9 overall and 4-6 in CCC action.

GAME ONE: Oregon Tech def. No. 3 LC State 3-0

A run on two hits put the Owls on top in the first, and two more in the second gave OIT a 3-0 lead. Dallas McGill sat Oregon Tech down in order in the third.

LC State tallied its first hit of the contest in the fifth with a single by Sam Olsson. The runner was left stranded as the only Warrior hit of the game.

OIT pitching shut out LC State in the 3-0 tilt.

Warrior pitching had a quality outing with two earned runs allowed. McGill struck out six in 4.1 innings and Greg Blackman threw the final 4.2 with eight punchouts and no walks.

GAME TWO: Oregon Tech def. No. 3 LC State 3-2

Nick Seamons put the Warriors on top with a solo shot in the bottom of the fourth. The first hit of the game for LC State gave the junior 11 homers on the season.

OIT jumped ahead with two runs in the sixth, but the Warriors answered in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game. Dominic Signorelli tripled with a ball off the wall in center and scored on a base hit by Jack Sheward to make it a 2-2 ball game through seven.

The Owls regained the advantage with a run on two hits in the top of the eighth. LC State loaded the bases in the eighth and ninth innings but OIT worked out of the jams to complete the sweep.

Seamons had two hits in the contest including his solo shot. Jace Hanson had the start on the mound and struck out eight through 5.1 innings. He allowed two runs on three hits, Eil Shubert worked a scoreless 1.2 innings and Cameron Smith took the loss with one run allowed in two innings. He gave up two hits, struck out three and did not walk a batter.
