(Idaho State) Idaho Governor Brad Little issued the following statement in support of President Trump’s executive order to “keep men out of women’s sports”:
“This week, I was honored to join President Donald Trump at the White House for the signing of his Executive Order, “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.” Within weeks of taking office, President Trump is showing his commitment to returning common sense and sanity back to the foundation of decisions being made by the federal government.
I am proud that Idaho was the first state to stand up and prohibit biological males from competing in women’s sports. Since then, we have not let up in our defense of female athletes. Idaho Representative Barbara Ehardt of Idaho Falls has courageously kept this important issue at the forefront and helped start a movement advocating for female athletes across the nation.
The attacks we have witnessed on Title IX the last couple of years are in direct contrast to the decades of hard work female athletes across the nation have poured into advancing women’s sports.
Finally, the war on women’s sports is OVER!
While at the White House, I ran into women’s sports advocate and former University of Kentucky swimmer, Riley Gaines. Riley has been a tireless advocate in the fight for women’s sports and it was great to see her be recognized by President Trump for her leadership.
Riley joined us here in Idaho back in August for the signing of my Executive Order, the Defending Women’s Sports Act. Idaho has lead the nation on this issue and continues to stand up for our female athletes!”
