Public invited to Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration at Idaho Capitol in Boise

BOISE – Idaho Lt. Gov. Scott Bedke will join former state Sen. Cherie Buckner-Webb along with Idaho human rights groups to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Boise.

The 36th annual Idaho Human Rights/Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration will be at 12 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16 on the second floor of the Idaho Capitol Building. The hour-long event will be open to the public. 

Ballet Folklorico Mexico Lindo, a community-based Mexican folk dance group from Nampa, will perform as part of the celebration, along with performances from Danza Azteca Tonatiuh and the Boise State University trumpeters. 

Buckner-Webb is a founding board member of the Idaho Black History Museum and has received numerous awards for her work in civic affairs, including the HP Human Rights Award and the Jefferson Award for Public Service.
