LEWISTON – Lewis-Clark State College professors Jenny Scott, Royal Toy, and Michelle Pearson-Smith will assume division chair duties when LC State begins its new fiscal year on July 1.
Scott will become interim chair of the Business & Computer Science Division, replacing Ayodeji Arogundade who is returning to a faculty role. Scott has been at the college since 2012, serving first as adjunct instructor and currently as an associate professor. She served as Faculty Senate chair and was a member of the President’s Cabinet in 2022-23. She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration-finance and a master’s in organizational leadership, both from Gonzaga University.
Toy is slated to become interim chair of the Teacher Education & Mathematics Division, replacing Mark Haynal who is returning to a faculty role. Toy has been at the college since 2018 and serves as an associate professor as well as director of the college’s Pathways to Accelerated Certification & Endorsement program. He has a bachelor’s in music education and a master’s and doctorate in special education – teaching the gifted and talented, all from the University of Northern Colorado.
Pearson-Smith will become chair of the Nursing & Health Sciences Division after serving as interim chair for the past academic year. Currently an associate professor, she has taught at Lewis-Clark State College since 2009, while also being employed at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center as a nurse from 2001-2023. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from LC State and a master’s in nursing education from Idaho State University.
