Spencer, Kelly and Kirk Tabbed CCC Athletes of the Week

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Three Warriors earned Rize Laboratory Cascade Conference Athlete of the Week honors on Monday for their performances over the weekend. Baseball’s Shane Spencer earned his second Pitcher of the Week award of the season, while Madigan Kelly and London Kirk represented track and field as Track Athletes of the Week.
SHANE SPENCER – BASEBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Spencer was an integral part of the LC State victory over College of Idaho on Saturday. The senior earned the win after tossing six innings with 11 strikeouts. He did not allow an earned run and gave up just three hits and two walks.
This is Spencer’s second weekly honor of the season.
The Warriors host No. 2 LSU Shreveport at Harris Field in a four-game series this weekend.
MADIGAN KELLY – WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kelly shattered her own record in the 100m hurdles with the first sub-14.00 run in program history. Her time of 13.94 ranks sixth in the NAIA this season and was good for second place at the meet. She also competed as a member of the 4x100m relay that ran the third-fastest race in program history. The group placed second overall with a time of 48.17.
This is Kelly’s second weekly honor this season and seventh of her career.
LONDON KIRK – MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Kirk won the 400m at the Whitworth Peace Meet with a season-best time of 47.81. The A standard time ranks 13th in the NAIA this season. He was also a member of the 4x100m relay team that hit a B standard time of 41.38 to win the event. The time ranks second in LC State history.
This is Kirk’s first weekly honor this season and third of his career.
