Structure Fire with Fatality Warner Ave

At 5:18pm, January 15, 2024 the Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched for a fire alarm activation at 616 Warner Ave. The Engine arrived in 4 minutes and 34 seconds. Upon investigation, Engine 74 found smoke coming from a one story apartment unit and upgraded the alarm to a commercial structure fire response.

With information that the apartment was occupied, firefighters quickly extended a hoseline, entered the building, searched and located the occupant. Unfortunately, the occupant was deceased. Units remained on scene to investigate the cause of the fire and assist the Nez Perce County Coroner.

Damage to the structure and contents are estimated at $75,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation and details regarding the deceased are being withheld pending family notification.

Lewiston responded with 2 Engines, 2 medic units, 2 chief officers and 2 members of the fire investigation team. LFD was assisted by a response from Asotin County Fire District #1, LPD, Avista and the NPC Coroner. No other civilians or firefighters were injured
