Sunday Morning Fire in Lewiston Orchards Causes $50,000 in Damage

LEWISTON – Lewiston Fire Department crews responded to a reported structure fire at 604 Vista Avenue at 10:26 a.m. The caller had stated the fire was in the garage and all occupants had exited the structure.

Upon arrival crews found smoke coming from the garage and gable vents of the house. Initial attack knocked the fire down in the garage and further access was gained through the garage door for extinguishment. The house and attic area were checked for fire extension with none noted. Smoke was evacuated from the structure and then turned over to fire investigators for cause determination.

The department responded with 3 structural engines, 3 ambulances, 2 fire investigators, and 1 chief officer for a total of 18 personnel. Clearwater Paper Fire Department responded to assist as part of the Valley Automatic Aid Agreement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damage estimate to the structure and contents was approximately $50,000. No firefighter or bystander injuries were
reported.
