Sunday’s Grass Fire on 11th Street and Miller Grade, stopped before any structure damage

Police units were dispatched to the area of 11th street and Miller Grade for a reported grass fire. Lewiston Police officers were first to arrive and utilized garden hoses to slow the rapidly spreading fire. The first arriving fire units quickly attacked the fire from above and below utilizing preconnected hoselines and hand tools. Additional units were requested as the fire was fast approaching several structures at the top of the hill. Units remained on scene for approximately 2 hours mopping up and ensuring everything had been wet down.

11 personnel responded to the fire from Lewiston Fire Department including 2 fire engines, 2 brush vehicles and 1 command vehicle. Several units from Lewiston Police assisted with traffic control and initial fire attack with a homeowners garden hose.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No structures were damaged in this fire.
