The City of Moscow Artwalk Opening Event on October 19th

October 13, 2023 (Moscow, Idaho) — The City of Moscow and the Moscow Arts Commission announce the opening event of the 3rd Thursday Artwalk season, to be held from 4 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 19.

3rd Thursday Artwalk in Moscow features visual, culinary, literary, and performing arts at 12 locations this month:

– Moscow Contemporary
– Nectar
– Pour Company
– Allegra Print & Imaging
– Third Street Gallery
– Thrivent Financial
– Moscow Food Co-op
– Ridenbaugh Gallery
– Paradise Creek of Olympus Retirement Living
– Moscow Elks Lodge #249
– RE/MAX Connections
– John’s Alley Tavern

3rd Thursday in October marks the unveiling of the artwork featured on the 2023-2024 Artwalk Season poster. The artwork, a watercolor painting entitled Watercolor Department by Tara Oar, depicts the Magyar Building at the corner of Main and A Streets. Built in 1963 according to the design of architect Melvin A. Rojko, the building originally housed the former First Federal Savings Bank. It currently houses the City of Moscow Public Works & Services. The building received Orchid Awards from the Moscow Historic Preservation Commission in 2021 and from Preservation Idaho in 2022.

Moscow native Tara Oar has been making art in the Palouse and the Pacific northwest for decades, recently focusing on painting. Her award-winning landscapes and illustrations in various media have been featured in Inland 360 and Palouse Plein Air.  For commissions, prints, and more information visit instagram.com/tara.oar.art

The 2023-2024 Artwalk Season is brought to the Moscow community by Avista Utilities, Gritman Medical Center, Inland Northwest Broadcasting, j & h Printing, the Moscow Food Co-op, and the Moscow Arts Commission. Support for City of Moscow Arts Department programming comes from the Idaho Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
