MOSCOW, Idaho — Oct. 9, 2023
WHAT: University of Idaho’s College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) will host the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Meat Science and Innovation Center Honoring Ron Richard, home to Vandal Brand Meats. The future center will include a state-of-the-art meat processing plant offering hands-on training in meat science.
The new center will replace a current facility that was built in the 1960s and will enable CALS to expand teaching programs, research, workforce development and public outreach opportunities.
The cost of building the planned 12,750-square-foot center is estimated at $14.1 million. Construction will commence shortly after the groundbreaking and be completed by the fall of 2025.
The late Ron Richard was a longtime manager of Vandal Brand Meats who helped build the brand’s stellar reputation.
