Ung Enriquez Named NAIA and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Alisha Alexander | Sports Information Director) – Sophomore outside hitter Grecia Ung Enriquez added to her growing list of accolades on Friday with an NAIA and AVCA All-American Honorable Mention nod. She is the first first Warrior Volleyball players since 2019 to earn the honor after an oversight mistakenly left her off the original list.

“First, this award would not be possible without the efforts of our conference commissioner, Rob Cashell, who collaborated with the appropriate parties after we discovered the error, and we would be remiss if we didn’t thank him for his efforts,” Head Coach Shaun Pohlman said. “I’m so excited for Grecia and for Warrior Volleyball to be able to etch a name into LC State history. She has such a bright future ahead of her and this award not only recognizes her ability, but this will serve as fuel for her towards that future.”

The Sonora, Mexico, native wrapped up her sophomore campaign as a First-Team All-Cascade Conference and AVCA First-Team All-Northwest Region selection, along with the All-America nod, after leading the Warriors offensively. She led LC State in kills (325), kills per set (3.35), points (379.5) and points per set (3.91) this season. She was second in the conference in services aces per set (0.44) with 43 total. Defensively she collected 126 digs and put up 21 blocks.

Ung Enriquez is the first Warrior since Tori Edwards in 2019 to earn All-America recognition.

“When you are a great player in a small conference, getting All-American is a bit easier because there is less competition to be at the top,” Pohlman added. “To get it in the Cascade is incredible with the talent we have in our conference. We should all be proud of this accolade.”
