Vehicle Versus Pedestrian Crash in Oldtown Leaves One Dead, Two Others Injured

OLDTOWN – The Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle versus pedestrian crash that occurred on October 7th at approximately 4:50 p.m. on East Valley Street South in Oldtown, Idaho.

The driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe, a 23-year-old male from Newport, Washington, struck 3 pedestrians walking on the side of the road, overturned his vehicle, and came to a rest on the side of the road in a residential lawn. The driver fled the scene on foot but was located after a short time by Law Enforcement Officers and transported to a nearby hospital via ground ambulance.

The pedestrians, a juvenile female, was pronounced deceased on scene, and a juvenile male in critical condition was transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance. The third pedestrian, the 50-year-old grandmother of the two children, was transported to a nearby hospital via ground ambulance. All of the pedestrians were from Oldtown, Idaho.

Next of kin has been notified.

The roadway was shut down for approximately 5 hours to allow first responders to clear the roadway and conduct a thorough investigation.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
