NORMAN, Okla. – Warrior Golf standout Jorgen Lie Viken added another All-American honor to his resume with the announcement of the NAIA PING All-America Teams on Tuesday. Viken was named an NAIA PING Third-Team All-American by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
“Another honor for Jorgen, and a well-deserved one at that,” Head Coach Zach Anderson said. “All-American is the top honor you can get nationally and Jorgen fits right into this group. Obviously, his play on the course is top tier but the work he has put in and the leadership he has shown are things people don’t get to see. Could not be prouder to have been his coach this year.”
The Kongsberg, Norway native was the Cascade Conference Golfer of the Year after leading the CCC in conference scoring average (72.1). He won back-to-back tournaments to close out the regular season with victories at the LCSC Warrior Spring Invitational and UPS Spring Invitational. The two wins came within the same week and Viken was voted the NAIA National Golfer of the Week for his efforts.
Viken was ranked as high as No. 6 individually by Golftstat and ended the season at No. 31. He represented LC State as an individual at the 2023 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships and tied for 37th after four rounds. He finished the year with a scoring average of 71.74. Viken was voted the LCSPY Male Athlete of the Year by his peers.
