MESA, Ariz. – Senior Jorgen Lie Viken wrapped up his Warrior career in a tie for 37th place at the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship. He carded a 76 in his final round for a four-round total of 8-over 296.
“Jorgen had a solid round going and stumbled coming in,” Head Coach Zach Anderson said. “From the first tee shot to the last putt, it was a grind. A top-40 individual finish at the national championship is nothing to be upset about. Very proud of his resilience this week. I am thankful for what he gave this team the past two years. He has a bright future in whatever path he chooses next.”
Viken with Missouri Valley’s Mateo Quiroga for the highest finish by an individual not competing with a team in the tournament. He started on the back nine for the second day in a row and carded a bogie out of the gate. He finished the back nine at an even-par after a birdie on 12, but struggled with three bogies and a double down the stretch.
The senior earned PING All-West Region accolades earlier in the week, announced by the GCAA, and was the Cascade Conference Golfer of the Year. Conference foe UBC took the team title at the national championship.
