LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Lewis-Clark State Women’s Tennis team rotated its doubles pairings to great success in a 7-0 win over Georgetown (Ky.). The (RV) LC State men’s team snagged a 6-1 victory.
The win propelled the women’s team back to a winning record at 11-10. The men earned their first victory in over a month to improve to 6-11.

“The women responded well to new doubles pairings,” assistant coach Ryan LaPlante said. “Hopefully they keep the ‘ready for anything’ mentality.”
Heidi Moyo teamed with April Buckingham to earn a No. 1 doubles victory over Lydia Prince and Maddie Gill 6-2. Yelena Kim and Catherine Khardina won in No. 2 doubles 6-3, and Beatriz Lambru and Alexis Maison swept their opponents in No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, all six women were victorious without dropping a set. Lina Boylan rolled past Sam Spady in No. 2 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win.
MEN: (RV) LC State def. Georgetown (Ky.) 6-1
For the third straight day on the Kentucky road trip the Warrior men’ team was able to sweep the doubles portion of the competition.
Dan Felker and Maksim Matyrnyi won in No. 1 doubles over Parker Clarke and Tsugu Hirose 6-3. Declan Townsend teamed with Cade Edwards for a win in No. 2 doubles and Itaru Kikuchi and Daniel Tevez won in No. 3 doubles, both by a score of 6-2.
The men won five of the six singles matches, with three of the six contests going to a third-set super-tiebreaker.
“The men showed some fight and resiliency,” LaPlante said. “Regardless of whether we win or lose, we must stay focused.”
Townsend earned a hard-fought win in No. 2 singles, defeating Leo Schrimer 6-7(3), 7-5, 10-7. Matyrnyi bounced back after an opening set loss to defeat Logan Small in No. 6 singles 3-6, 7-6(6), 10-8.
Felker (No. 1 singles), Edwards (No. 3) and Kikuchi (No. 4) were able to earn victories in straight sets.
