ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Lewis-Clark State Women’s Tennis team opened the LSU Alexandria Invitational with a 7-0 loss to No. 8 William Carey (Miss.) on Thursday.
The loss dropped the Warriors season record to 3-5.
“The women adjusted very nicely to the outdoors after being indoors since August,” coach Kai Fong said.
Gwyn Heim had the most success in singles competition. Heim pushed her opening set of No. 3 singles to a 7-5 result before dropping the second set 6-1.
“The singles performed better than what the scores indicated,” Fong said. “Each gained valuable competitive experience from the matches for sure. With four freshmen in the lineup on this trip, it is just a matter of time to have a breakthrough match.”
Heidi Moyo and April Buckingham in No. 1 doubles and Marina Perez and Maria Silva in No. 3 doubles both took 6-2 losses.
