LEWISTON, Idaho – The Lewis-Clark State Women’s Tennis team earned its first victory of 2025 on Saturday with a 6-1 win over NCAA Division III Whitworth in the Tennis Center.
The Warriors started the match with three doubles wins. Paige Noble-Lucas and Rayana Shah made quick work in No. 2 doubles for a 6-2 win while April Buckingham and Heidi Moyo earned a 6-3 win in the top doubles spot.
No. 3 doubles pair Ana Govea and freshman Luciana Marzani battled to earn their win. The duo was down late in their match before storming back for their 6-4 win. The Warriors entered singles play with a 1-0 advantage.
Gywn Heim had the quickest match as she blanked her No. 4 singles opponent 6-0, 6-0. Govea dropped just four games in her 6-2, 6-2 No. 6 singles win, and Noble-Lucas dropped only five at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-3).
Heidi Moyo earned a competitive win against Whitworth’s top player in No. 1 singles. She won her match 6-3, 6-4. Fellow senior April Buckingham won a pair of close frames to take her No. 5 singles opponent in straight sets 7-5, 7-5.
