OLYMPIA – Last week, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) adopted new rules for special use permits.
The rules amend and clarify existing rules and establish new rules for accessibility permits for people with disabilities.
“We are excited to reduce barriers that may impede participation by people with disabilities by streamlining the administrative processes associated with these common requests,” said Larry Delgado, DEI manager. The changes will also ensure consistent application of permit standards, allowing for increased equity and efficiency of department services to Washington communities.
The adopted rule culminates a months-long process to develop and refine the rule, including a public comment period and public hearing. The rule’s adoption this month followed the Department Director’s approval in May 2023.
