WSU Spring System-Wide Student Population Lowest in 17 Years

(Pullman, WA) The rate of Washington State University’s enrollment declines are continuing to slow down.

There are 23,755 students at WSU system-wide this spring which is down about 600 from a year ago, equaling a 2.5% drop.  Last year’s spring enrollment decline was 4.4% which was significantly down from the 2023 spring drop of 7%.  This is the lowest WSU system-wide spring enrollment in 17 years.

The Pullman campus student population is dropping at a similar rate down 2.6% this semester. There’s 15,004 students in Pullman which is down about 400 from a year ago. The Pullman WSU campus spring enrollment is the lowest since at least 2007 when there were about 17,000 students on campus.

The WSU system-wide spring enrollment peaked at the start of the pandemic in 2020 at around 29,500. The Pullman campus spring student population topped out in 2019 at around 19,200.
