(La Grande, OR), Sydnie Zywina completed one of the best weekends of her career with a school record and national standard in the long jump on Saturday to wrap up the Lew Thorne Invite, hosted by Eastern Oregon. Multiple Warrior women made edits to the record book throughout the day.
Zywina put an exclamation point on her weekend with a record-shattering leap in the long jump. Her mark of 5.78m breaks her own record at LC State and is an automatic national standard that currently ranks fifth in the NAIA. Karissa Lindner also hit a PR to place third in the event. Her mark of 5.38m is tied for third-best in the Warrior record book.
Grace Tiegs ran the second-fastest 1,000m in program history and was second overall at the meet with a time of 3:04.01.
Lindner went on to place fifth in the 60m dash with a time of 8.05. She was fifth in the prelim at 8.04, and then won the 200m with a time of 26.61.
Camille Ussher won the mile run in the first track event of the day with a time of 5:23.70. Grace McCormick was sixth after running a time of 5:45.74. The pair also ran in the 600m where Emily Collins led the way in second place (1:37.84). Ussher was fifth (1:44.41) and McCormick was seventh (1:49.73).
Also in distance events, Damaris Kibiwot won the 3,000m with a time of 10:42.72 and Lily Bennett was second (10:56.66).
Freshman Hope Zollman placed fourth in the shot put with a mark of 10.55m.
