Lewis-Clark State College Announces Addition of Varsity Dance Program

Alisha Alexander | Sports Information Director

LEWISTON, ID– Lewis-Clark State College announced the addition of a varsity dance team that will compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics beginning in 2023. The 2023-24 season will mark the inaugural campaign for LC State’s 13th sport program.
“We are thrilled to add dance as one of our sport offerings at LC State,” Athletic Director Brooke Henze said. “The addition of Warrior Dance will give student-athletes another chance to compete and represent Lewis-Clark State at a high level.”
LC State Dance will compete in the winter of 2023-24. Competitive dance became an NAIA championship sport in 2017.
“LC State athletics has a long and rich history of excellence both in competition and in the classroom, and I am confident Warrior Dance will be no exception,” LC State president Cynthia Pemberton said. “Our students have shown tremendous interest in dance over the past few years, and the addition will help us continue to pursue our Title IX goals, so adding it as our 13th collegiate sport makes a lot of sense. I wish Dr. Davis and the program the best of luck next season. Go Warriors!”
Dr. Christa Davis will lead the program that returns seven dancers from the 2022-23 club team. LC State anticipates a roster of 16 in the fall of 2023. Prospective student-athletes can fill out the recruiting form HERE.
Davis currently teaches Kinesiology and Health at LC State. Her background includes performance, choreography and dance instruction at various levels in multiple settings. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Idaho in Kinesiology Pedagogy with a Dance emphasis. Davis has led the club dance team at LC State for three years.
The 2023-24 LC State Dance schedule will feature three competitions including events outside of Idaho.
