Lewiston, ID- The 16th Annual Breakfast for Kids, an event of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley, is set for Wednesday, April 19th , with doors opening at 7am and the formal program at 8:00am. All expenses for the event are underwritten thanks to the support of CCi/Speer and Regence. Chairing this year’s event is Club Board Member and Resource Development Chair, Derek Bruce
The event also marks the awarding of the prestigious “Don Poe Community Spirit Award,” which will be presented this year to Teri and Jeff Nesset. The event will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Lewiston.
“The Annual Breakfast allows us to generated needed revenue for our Clubs” states Boys & Girls Club Executive Director, Jon Evans, “but also allows us something equally important, it allows us to recognize outstanding community service, and we are very honored to present this year’s award to an amazing couple, Teri And Jeff Nesset. In addition to being married for over 50 years, Teri was a long serving member of the Boys & Girls Club Board of Directors, and earned the status of Director Emeritus due to her passion and commitment to children and youth in the community. Jeff is the former Mayor for the City of Lewiston, and also served District 7 in the Idaho House of Representatives. Together, Teri and Jeff have 3 children and 8 grandchildren.
Mason Smith, the organizations 2022 Youth of the Year, will emcee the event.
The keynote address will be delivered by Olympic Gold Medalist, and former Vandal, Dan O’Brien, whose amazing story and journey to Olympic gold will be shared, along with other life lessons he has learned. In addition to winning gold in the decathlon at the ’96 Olympics, Dan is also a 3 time decathlon world champion, as well as a former world indoor heptathlon champion.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Lewis Clark Valley serves more than 3,600 children and youth in a variety of programs. The organization has Clubs in Lewiston and Clarkston, and these sites are open more than 300 days a year. Funds raised at the breakfast provide operating support and membership and program scholarships for disadvantaged youth.
