Join Palouse Conservation District and the City of Moscow for the 2024 City Nature Challenge: Palouse Region. The City
Nature Challenge (CNC) is an international effort to document nature that will take place from April 26 – April 29, 2024.
Nearly 700 cities from seven continents will participate in this year’s event.
Participants can take part in as little or as much as they want. Participants just need find wild (not captive or cultivated)
plants, animals, fungi, etc. anywhere in Whitman or Latah Counties. Take a photo and upload the observation to the
iNaturalist app. Scientists both locally and across the world will use these observations in biodiversity data to increase our
understanding of species patterns globally. Observations will count toward the Palouse Region project in competition with
communities across the globe. Results will also be counted locally to see whether Whitman or Latah County can get the
most observations. Any observations made in Whitman or Latah Counties from April 26 – April 29, 2024 count toward
the CNC: Palouse Region.
The City Nature Challenge: Palouse Region is locally organized by Palouse Conservation District and the City of
Moscow. More information can be found at www.palousecd.org/city-nature-challenge.
