PORTLAND, Ore. – The LC State Women’s Cross Country team, ranked No. 18 in the NAIA, produced a pair of All-Cascade Conference finishes and a third-place team mark at the 2024 Cascade Conference Cross Country Championships on Friday. Damaris Kibiwot showed off her speed as one of the top runners in the CCC, and Camille Ussher ran the best race of her career as both placed in the top 15.

The Warriors tied in points with No. 10 Southern Oregon with 83, but the Raiders took the tie breaker to earn second place. No. 6 College of Idaho swept the team and individual titles.

“Good day to be a warrior,” Head Coach Mike Collins said. “Very proud of our athletes and the effort that they put out today. This was really encouraging as we go to nationals because we had some key people that definitely can run better, or other athletes are getting more confident and better, and it’s all happening at the right time. Right now we are really going to focus on the little things like trying to stay healthy. Big day from Camille who came through when we really needed her.”

Kibiwot was the sixth runner to cross the line, doing so with a time of 22:43.0. Ussher ran a personal-best time of 23:29.5 to place 15th, with the top 15 earning All-CCC honors. Both are newcomers for the Warriors this season.

Freshman Lily Bennett finished just off the All-CCC list in 16th place behind Ussher with a time of 23:34.0. Grace Tiegs placed 21st (23:54.3) and Abigail Shumaker wrapped up the top five in 25th (24:09.4).

Mercy Cherono ran a career-best time of 24:21.3 to take 30th, senior Grace McCormick was 40th (26:03.9) and Leila Flannery was 45th (26:40.8).
