Latah Farmers Market Welcomes all to Second Annual Free Community Cider Pressing

TROY, Idaho—The Latah Farmers Market is hosting its second annual Free Community Cider Pressing on Saturday, October 8, from 9:00-1:00 p.m. at the Troy City Park to celebrate the end of a successful farmers market season.

Members of the community are encouraged to bring their own apples to the park between 9:00 and 1:00 PM on Saturday, to have them pressed into cider for free by Latah Farmers Market volunteers. To ensure as many people can be served as possible, each participant is limited to 50 pounds of apples.

Cider pressing services are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Participants should plan to bring jars or containers to take their apple cider home in. Containers will also be available for purchase.

Apples may also be available for sale from select vendors, as long as supplies last, and the
Latah Farmers Market welcomes additional Latah County vendors who wish to sell apples at this market. Information about being a vendor and vendor applications are available on the website at www.latahfarmersmarket.com/vendors.

While cider is being pressed, participants will enjoy live music and entertainment provided by BearGrass Band, and hot food, drinks, coffee and baked goods will be available for sale throughout the event as well. This family-friendly event will offer fun for all ages, and kids can take home custom balloon animal creations or have their faces painted by local youth vendors.

The Latah Farmers Market will also host its usual roster of farmers market vendors, who offer locally grown or produced goods, including pastured pork, chicken, eggs, herbs, flowers, seasonal vegetables, fruit, jam, handcrafted soaps and balms, home décor and art, holiday gifts, and candles.

All products sold at the Latah Farmers Market were made or produced in Latah County. The goal of the Latah Farmers Market is to unite Latah County communities and foster pride by bringing local producers and shoppers together in an inclusive, safe, family-friendly weekly event, that is open to all. The market was started in 2021 by Latah County producers to expand access to locally grown food and resources that directly serve the community.

Additional information about the Free Community Cider Pressing and the Latah Farmers Market is available on the website www.latahfarmersmarket.com.
